Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

Application for US citizenship Part 7 asks Did trip outside of the US last six months or more?

How is this calculated? I left the USA on 8/27/08 and returned 2/27/09. On both of these days I was in the US but also in transit to and from Australia. How should I answer this question truthfully and in compliance with the Dept of Immigration? If I answer Yes I will have to provide additional information about my residency in the USA and could face denial of my application for citizenship. Thank you!

I will recommend that you tell the truth. Get a good lawyer who can analyze and possibly see if there are any issues on the citizenship application itself.
