Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

Indian Passport renewal

Is it possible for an Indian passport holder who overstays his US visa for about an year to renew his passport while in USA ? Or is it compulsory that he should have a legal status there for getting his passport renewed ? If it is not possible for him to renew his passport there in US, can you tell me the other options ?

Re: Indian Passport renewal

The passport is to be renewed by Indian authorities and therefore they may not be concerned about your over stay. You may send your passport for renewal to the Indian embassy in USA.

its always better to approach the indian embassy there and get the passport renewed. to my mind...there is no other option except returning back and getting renewed here.
