Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

Multiple sponsors

Is it possible to have different sponsors submitting an I-130 forms for the same person? For example, can the father and mother submit different applications for their child? They are permanent residents now and are not sure who may become a US citizen first. Thanks.

Re: Multiple sponsors

Yes, each sponsor (petitioner) should file a separate petition for their child (beneficiary). It is a good idea to do this not only because you don't know who will be a citizen first but also in case something happens to one of them.

Re: Multiple sponsors

Yes it is possible to have different sponsors submit an I-130 form for the same person. In fact, having both the mother and father submit different applications is a wise idea, should one of them become a US Citizen faster than another, or should something happen to one of them.

Please don't hesitate to call our law office for futher assistance.
