Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

Hi there,

I'm a greed card holder, but going to leave USA for, like, 10 months. Is it going to be a problem when I come back? Do I need to show any documents when passing custom?

Thx,

Kayu

Yes, sometimes that could be a problem. Any absence from USA for over 6 months can be questioned by the CBP (and you will be 'applying for admission' on your return to USA), any absence of 12 months or more can lead to abandonment of the permanent residence.

A reentry permit for a lawful permanent resident can be applied for prior to departure.
