Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

Working on opt, though H1B approved

Hello Sir/Madam, I have been on approved H1B for two months but not working for my employer X who did my H1B. But my opt started in may 2004 and is valid till may 2005. For the past two months I have been working for another employer Y for whom I started work while I was on OPT. I'm getting proper paychecks from employer Y, with tax cut and SSN, could I get into trouble? Should I stop working? What kind of problems could I get into if I continue to work on opt for employer Y while having H1 from another employer X?

Please advise, its very crucial.

Thank You

Sincerely

Re: Working on opt, though H1B approved

If you've already changed your status from F1 to H1B, then your OPT is not valid anymore. You are not allowed to work for anyone other than the employer who petitioned your H1B.

You should have company Y sponsor your H1B so to fix your problem.
