Legal Question in Insurance Law in California

3 car accident - who's at fault?

My friend was in an accident, borrowing my car. I found MY insurance is responsible. She rearended someone, and that car then rearended the car in front of her. Who is responsible for the car in front? Can anyone go after my friend's insurance for anything? Or does all responsibility fall on me?

Re: 3 car accident - who's at fault?

As an owner, you are responsible for up to $15K per person, $30K per accident and $5K in total property damage. You will be responsible for both the car in front and the one in front of that. Your friend, if she has ins., should immediately notify her co. They will likely step in and cover her driving your car and your ins. will be secondary to hers. If they don't cover her driving another person's vehicle, and yours doesn't cover her driving your car, you will have problems. Good luck and thanks for your question.
