Insurance obligations

If an insured driver is invloved in a car accident, what are the insurance company's obligations to their insured driver in terms of fighting on their behalf? In other words, do they have the right to simply decline to assist the driver?

Insurance company's interest is to maximize their profits. Whereas, if you hire an attorney he/she will work for your, and ultimately his/her best interest. Make your choices wisely.
