Legal Question in Insurance Law in California

Responsibility of valet parker?

Car was valet parked by wife - upon arriving home, I noticed damage (probably $1000-2000) to front end - she said she hadn't hit anything that day or before but had valet parked. The marks would be hard to see in the dark, at night, but in a well-lit garage, were easy to see. I am guessed valet co and related restuarant will deny liability, point to their claim check, and say how do we know that didnt' happen after you left? What's the best course of action, claim it on our ins and point the finger to the valet co? Take valet pkg & restaurant co to small claims?

Re: Responsibility of valet parker?

You should do two things. First, make a claim to your auto insurance. You are obligated, by the terms of the policy, to report all claims. Second, put the valet company on notice of the claim. They will probably deny it, but then you can let your insurance company deal with them after they pay for the damage to your car.
