Legal Question in Investment Law in California

Shared holding on a vehicle

2 weeks ago a friend and I traded in my vehicle and her vehicle for a cadillac escalade we had a verbal agreement that we would have shared ownership of the new vehicle and since then she has taken full ownership of the vehicle and denies that i have any share in the vehicle. my trade in was worth substantially more than hers and i do have records of all payments made to the original financial institution. my name is not on any of the paperwork for the new vehicle. Is there any legal action I can take?

Thank you

Re: Shared holding on a vehicle

If your loss is $5000 or less, or you are willing to settle for $5000, you should consider a small-claims suit. The outcome in small claims often depends upon the reaction of the particular judge to the parties and evidence, and is somewhat unpredictible, especially where most of the evidence is oral testimony. Bring all your documentation to court.

For further information, contact your county small-claims advisor -- by statute each county has one or more -- and/or read a self-help law book on how to present and win your case in small claims court.
