Legal Question in Juvenile Dependency in California

my nephew violated court probation. the paperwork says he is to appear in court to review his case as opposed to checking the box that says "commitment to department of corrections". he is adament that they are tricking him to detain him. are they honest on their paperwork?

It does not make any difference. His obligation is to comply with court orders. His failure to comply will only exacerbate his eventual punishment for violating his probation. He should seek the assistance of counsel to represent him before the court.
