First, find a place to move immediately and move. The City really doesn't care about how long it may take you to find a new place to live, and can have you legally evicted very, very quickly. Second, find a tenant's right attorney to discuss what you need to do to protect yourself. You should not be talking to the landlord's attorney without your own representation. Call the County Bar Association for the county in which you live, and ask for a referral to a tenant right's attorney. Good luck.
