Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I have fallen behind on 2 months rent. I contacted the business that owns the property regarding what I owe. I was told I could stay in the home if I paid the rent due plus legal fees. The next day I was served with eviction notice and have only days to file a response. Can I still be evicted after paying what is owed?

If you were served with a three day pay or quit notice, you can stop the eviction by paying the entire amount due anytime by the end of the 3 days. After that, the landlord does not have to accept late rent and can file an unlawful detainer complaint against you and have you evicted. You are not clear whether you were served with a 3 day pay or quit notice or an unlawful detainer complaint and summons.
