Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Lease re-certification documents
I was asked by my landlord recently to sign lease re-certification papers, but instructed not to date any of the documents I signed, so that mgmt. can fill in the dates to reflect a different date than orginally signed. Is this legal??
