Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I live in a townhouse and I just received a notice saying I cant smoke on my back patio or the parking garages or the "grassy common area in front". Is this legal for them to do?

Yes. What is not legal is for you to disturb other residents' enjoyment of their homes and common areas with the toxic discharge from your habit.
