Why do I have to move?

Ive lived in a apt. for 1 1/2 yrs w/a roommate. I was put on the lease but then taken off for 2 mo. when i moved out of town. when i moved back in ,after seeing how my roomy lacked in responsibilities of paying the rent b4, i just never was put on the lease again. the apt manager has accepted rent payments numerous xs from me.my roomate gave his 30 day to move out,i dont want to move. do i have to,just cuz he is and im not on the lease?and if i have nowhere to go when the 30 day is up,what steps does the manager take in getting me out? what can i do to save my home?

Ask the manager if you can sign a new lease by yourself. If the manager isn't responsive, talk to the owner. If you have a steady income stream and can pay the rent and are not a problem, then you should be an acceptable tenant. I agree that it wouldn't make sense to have you leave.
