Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

question about a refund

Hi,

I got a conflict with a woman who was going to rent me a room. What finally happened is that I did not take her room for various reasons and she refuses to refund me, even partly, the money I gave her for 2 months, which is $1500.

What can I do and can I ask for a full refund ?

Thank you.

Re: question about a refund

You'll have to take her to small claims court if she won't voluntarily pay you back. Put your demand in writing first, and give her five days to refund you. When she doesn't, file a complaint in Small Claims. With the amount of money you are trying to collect, hiring an attorney really isn't very cost-effective.
