Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Security Deposit

After giving my 30-days notice and vacating my apartment, I received a statement from the landlord saying i needed to pay them an amount in addition to not refunding my security deposit. They did not give me the receipts from the vendors nor did they offer me an inspection. I wrote them back stating I needed these things from them before I could pay anything. They did however give me the names & addresses of the vendors which I tried to contact for a copy of the receipts. The landlord wrote back stating that he did offer me an inspection and that I tried to convince the vendors into telling me there was no damage. He wrote that my actions were questionable and even criminal. This is completely untrue. How should I respond to this?
