Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

How much to sue...

My previous landlord went past the 21-days period to refund my security deposit and he only sent me a portion of my deposit with an itemized statement without any kind of receipts. I sent him a certified demand letter and I still haven't heard from him. I am taking him small claims court but I do not know how much to sue him. Also, i've read that the landlord has to give me a written letter within 2 weeks after I vacated the premises to do a walk thru with him and if anything needs to be fixed, I would have the oppurtunity to fix them, is that true?

Re: How much to sue...

You are correct that the landlord has 21 days to to refund and durin this time to perform the walk through. I recommend suing for the complete return of the secury deposit, but I would need a little more information about what you were charged for and how much to ascertain a better idea of what exactly occurred.
