Legal Question in Legal Ethics in California

On dec. 23rd 2010 i received a letter form The law office of Jeffrey Ogilvie saying that a Notice of Default was recorded against us. in aug of 2010 we purchased our frist home so we very upset to say the least not knowing what was going on. and how could we be loosing our home that we havn't even settled in yet. needless to say we did not have a xmas for the fear of not having a home after making several phone calls to the recorders office and the mortgage company the letter should have went to someone else. so what should we do about this ?
