Legal Question in Legal Ethics in California

I signed and returned a letter to start work at an agreed to salary ($35.00 per hr), I was contacted by a temp agency used by the company I will be working for stating that there was a mistake and the salary is ($27.00 per hr), is the signed letter binding? There was a job posting which stated the position was for $34 to $35 as well.

I assume you are an at-will employee. If that is true, then your salary can be increased or decreased at will, starting immediately. The only exception is for hours already worked. It also does not appear that incurred expenses in reliance on the letter.

Under these assumptions, and unless there is more to the situation than what you wrote, the law allows your wages to be decreased to $27.00/hour regardless of what is stated in the letter.
