Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in California

injured by dentist

I went to see a dnetist 2 weeks ago. I was given a deep injection in my jaw hinge because I didnt go numb in the regular spot for a filling. I felt a electric shock sensation and since that visit I am unable to open my mouth all the way and it is painful. I called the dentist and she said it shopuld go away. It has not improved except some pain has decreased. I have been unable to eat properly or talk without exhaustion. I was wondering how long would I have to tolerate this before I can sue for damages. I fear this wont get better. I do realize this may improve in time but how long will I have to tolerate this without compinsation? I was no prewarned about this happening. Any ino would be appreciated,

thanks

It may get better. However, you should get checked out by a neurologist. Your mouth is one of the most sensitive parts of your body. You will want to get checked out to ensure that you have not encountered any nerve damage. Please be especially careful if you experience any dumbness to your lips or tongue. Several doctors do specialize in dental neurology. You may wish to consult one in your local area.

You might have a case for malpractice. However, an expert opinion is required in order to proceed with it. Usually, before attorney accept these types of cases, the client is asked to pay the costs associated with the expert evaluation.
