Re: UA Question

Except for unusual situations most commands wait 30 days. At that point you are declared a deserter and a federal arrest warrant is issued. A large proportion of the UA/AWOL (and I'm assuming you to be a Marine or Navy), are arrested by police while driving. The person then spends a few days in the local jail until the Absentee Collection Unit from Great Lakes, Quantico, or San Diego come get you.
