Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

Bitten by a flea at motel

Who can handle a case when I stayed at a certain motel in California, got bitten by a flea or some other bug many dozens of time, the wounds are not healing, the motel didn't contact me for a few days, my vacation was ruined and I'm in pain and it looks very ugly, so I have to wear pants and long sleeve shirts all the time....???

Re: Bitten by a flea at motel

Ummm, sounds more like bedbugs. There is an epidemic of bedbugs in California at present. Uncomfortable and embarrassing, but not a major injury that would necessitate a lawyer's intervention. My suggestion is to take good photos of the marks and sue the motel in Small Claims Court in the County where the motel is located.

You can get up to $7500 in that court without sharing the recovery with any lawyer. You might try Googling "bedbugs" and the name of the hotel and checking the Better Business Bureau to see if other people have complained similarly. If so, print out the complaints showing the dates, to prove that they took no action despite past complaints. That would be negligent. You'll need your proof of reservations and/or proof of payment on your credit card to take to court. Good luck.
