Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

bus driver negligence

I work for a private transit company while on the job with an empty bus I rear ended a car that stopped for a pedistrian. I skidded to a stop but hit the car. There appreared no damagae to the car. I am now being summons as xxx company, my name as does 1 to 25. Can I be personally sued? Am I insured by the company or will this be out of pocket from me? I have no money and no assets.

Re: bus driver negligence

You can be sued individually, but if you were acting within the course and scope of your duties at the time of the accident the company (and/or its insurers) should defend you and pay any settlement or judgment.
