Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

Current Personal Injury Case - lawyer trouble?

I have a current personal injury case against a large company. We believe it could turn out to be a multi million dollar lawsuit. But my lawyer is under review by the state bar for moral turpitude, dishonesty or corruption in handling several trust accounts. He claims that this will not affect my case and he will have his license (or whatever it is) by the time my case goes to trial.

Can his dishonesty be brought into my case and held against me??

Anything your attorney did is not admissible evidence. However, the State Bar investigation might distract your attorney from giving his full attention to the case.

Your attorney's situation is irrelevant to the facts in your case. The questions are whether the attorney's problems will be over and be a distraction. I hope this helps.. Bob

You are free to interview a new lawyer at any time during your case and retain a new lawyer if you feel uncomfortable. If you don't feel 100% confident in your lawyer, you should consider getting another one. Be advised that your old lawyer will likely place a "lien" on the case to reimburse him for any costs advanced and possible fees for services. Good luck.
