Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

Landlord/Mother Liability

A lady had five pitbull dogs off leash in a secluded park. they attacked a man and his 3 year old son. The father tried to protect the boy from harm by holding him over his head. But both the father and son sustained multiple dog bites that required stitches. The landlord of the house she lives in is her mother. The Mother's estate is valued at appx. 2 million. If the lady gets sued can they get any of the mother's money? The mother was aware she had the dogs as puppies but not that she still had all the dogs.
