Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

As part of registering my 8 year old son for a summer academic program offered at the Cal State University here in Northridge, there is a form called "Informed Consent, Waiver & Release" which I have to sign. According to this form, I will have to waive all my rights and release all the people associated with the university against any damages/accidents/personal injury or even death of my son. My question is, in case of negligence or carelessness, who will be respnsible for my son in case of accident/injury/death while my son is on the campus property and under the supervision of a teacher?

I would cross out that part and see what they say. You are smart not to sign documents with unreasonable language. It's probably illegal for a state university to require such a broad release to participate in its programs.
