can you receive monetary damages for a newspaper selling a picture of you to another newspaper and that newspaper printed an error with your picture and someone else story and that story potentially damages your business and your public image

There is quite possibly a case there, but the key issue would be proving actual damages proximately caused by the conduct. For good or bad the law deals in money damages directly caused by the wrongful conduct. If you don't have that, your case is not worth pursuing.
