Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

settling an accident without insurance

Involved in an accident and asked if we could settle without insurance. paid 1400, and was told there might be hidden damage the total damage came out to 2500 and the total cost of the car(blue book value) is 2000, she requested payment for all these repairs and for a rental, am i liable for the actual repairs or only for the total cost of the car ?

Re: settling an accident without insurance

If you can get a full release, meaning she won't sue you for personal injury or anything else after the fact, you're better off paying her what she wants -- you just want to make sure that she signs away all rights to pursue a case against you after you pay her what she is asking -- don't just write a check without getting her to sign away her rights.
