Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

About 5 years ago I took vacation with my family to Orlando Florida, we stayed at the Westgate resort. They offered to sell us tickets to a discounted rates if we would listen to a "talk" the tickets were for Epco, Typhoon lagoon, etc. so, we did. The talk basically was to sell you timeshare which I was a little hesitant to buy,but since they put it so nice and easy we purchased timeshare, not really know exactly what we were getting ourselves into. We purchased a 15000.00 program, not knowing that the maintenace fees were going to be about 1000.00 every other year. My question is how can i get out this expensive program since it is in my opinion a rip off.

In the past, there have been agencies that deal in timeshares, buying unwanted ones and reselling them. You'd probably get way less than you've paid, and I'm not sure these agencies are still active, or interested in buying more inventory, under current depressed economic conditions. I'd suggest searching on the Web. Selling is a better concept than just stopping payment, but to be candid, I have not heard of a lot of people being sued over walking away from a timeshare, especially out of state.
