Periodically check the court's web site to see the status of the case. If you do not see anything i the next two weeks call the clerk's Office to find out what is going on. If you asked for the judge as opposed to the clerk to enter a judgment then you will likely have to prepare and file with the court declarations proving your damages, but check with the court clerk in the UD section to see if the judge prefers a hearing or declarations to prove up the damages.

Mr. Shers' reply is basically correct, if he and I understand what the action is about. However, he seems to assume that this is an unlawful detainer (UD) lawsuit. In general, I'd advise two things: (1) learn how to check the case's status on the court's Web site, and (2) plan to make occasional visits to the court clerk's office to make sure your suit is properly filed and being processed and that there are no problems.

I don't think San Diego County lets you check up on the status of a case online, the way some counties do. I hope that you submitted the correct paperwork. If not, you will receive a rejection notice from court clerk that will point out what you did wrong, and asking you to resubmit corrected documents.
