Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

I gave a 30 day notice to my landlord which puts my move out date as of 6/21/14. She is insisting that I pay the entire months rent and then they will reimburse me the difference from the prorated amount after I move out. I have also only had to pay the prorated amount. Can they do this?

Yes, if you agree to it. Or you can pay the prorated portion, or they can waste your time when you pay the prorated portion and try to evict you with a 3 day pay or quit, which I think is stupid.
