can my hoa prevent me from renting my condo if my original agreement allowed me to?

You need to review your current governing documents. They may have been amended since you have moved in with rental restrictions, and yes, your HOA can restrict rentals within your community assuming that the rental restrictions are reasonable.

I don't know what you mean "my original agreement", but unless the CC&R's restrict your right to rent your condo, you can.
