Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

I was trying to get a home modification, so I hired a lawyer to help me with the process. I would send him all the necessary paperwork to his offices. His offices moved one day; however he failed to tell me (his client) and because of this my property has been sold. I am being evicted and I feel that he is at faul.t What should I do? Please advice me. Thank you

You can do two things:

1. FIle a complaint against him with State Bar of California. Here is the link: http://calbar.ca.gov/state/calbar/calbar_generic.jsp?cid=10136&id=1144.

2. Hire a laywer to sue him. If it could be shown that your modification would have been approved and he caused you damage, if he has professional malpractice insurance, you would recover your damages (what they are- you will estbalish with your attorney). Attorney malpractice lawsuits are tough case. Hire good attorney.
