Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

real estate law

I am trying to locate the owner of the house next to mine. There is a renter living there now who wont give me any info, like the property managers name. I contacted the county accessor office. They gave me the address on file but I have had no luck with it. What are my options? I need to get a hold of the owner.

Re: real estate law

You can pay to use an online service to get more information about the homeowner, but frankly those services may only return the county assessor's information which has not yielded anything for you thus far. You may also retain a private investigator to locate the owner for you. The only real no-cost option is to go to the County Recorder's office and pull up all of the deeds and other documents recorded against the home - that might provide some alternative addresses to use, or it may only lead you back to the same address the assessor has.
