Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Rental Increases

How many times per year can a landlord raise my rent? What is the legal dollar amount or percentage that a landlord can raise my rent - $100-500 per year or 10-50%? What are the statutes that cover renters rights?

Re: Rental Increases

Unless you live in a city or county with a local

rent control ordinance, there is no statutory limtation

on your landlord's ability to raise the rent. There may

be some limitations in your written lease, if you have

one.
