SS after ex husband

Please help;

I was married for 28 years and got divorced . I got married the second time. Now the secondmarriage is on the rocks and divorce is in the air.

I am I going to have rights to collect SS after my first husband , if I am going to be single again. I ma 54 now.

Eva:

YES. Under current SS laws, with a marriage of substantial duration [defined as 10 years or more] your individual benefits that arise derivitively from the prior status of marriage are "locked in."

You can write to social Security or go on line [www.SSA.gov] and get further information.

If you have been married to current husband for 10 years or more, you are doubly covered, but not necessarily for more monthly funds.
