Legal Question in Tax Law in California

estate tax return

Hello:

My mothers probated estate in Contra Costa County CA,

the administrator my sister in 2000. My mother had 2 life

insurance policies with face values at $1.000 and one at

$500. These policies were whole life policies with a

mortality based at 3% for every policy year until death.

My sister the administrator was the benificiary for the face

value amount stated on a 712 tax form. This 712 states it is

to be filed by the executor with form 706, United State

Estate(and generation skipping Transfer) Tax Return. Does

this mean my sister filed a estate tax return? If so where

or how do I get a copy of this return. My sister aand I aare

not talking to each other and may ne

you should request a copy in writing from the administrator. also review the probate file for information related to any insurance policies.
