Getting paid under the table

Recently worked under the table for a family member and now that family member is being charged with , working with no contractor licence , grand theft larceny (because job was over 400.00) and elder abuse ( not physical ). What can happem to me for working under the table and not paying tax's on the money made (approx 5000.00). I am sure to have to go to court and this more than likely will come up.

you should consult with a knowledgeable and experienced tax attorney. there are federal and California penalties for tax fraud (both civil and criminal), in addition to other penalties and interest that may be owed.
