Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

''auto-accident''

hi.

here's my question: last monday a friend of mine was backing out of the parking lot, and her foot slipped and she scrapped the car parked next to her.

now, she was feeling a bit quezy (ready to faint) and went to get some water....it took about 10 minutes. when she came back the car she had scraped (3 to 4 inch scratch) was gone....so obviously the owner did not take note of the damage as it was very minor.

now, my friend feels very guilty about this. she thinks she knows the license plate # but doesn't know what to do w/ it.

now, the car had already left by the time she came back to leave a note, so there was nothing that she could do about it.

what should she do?

what could happen to her (i.e. jail time??).

THANK-YOU.

Re: ''auto-accident''

No jail time. she would be responsible for the repair to the car.
