Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

Hello, my name is Nhan and I just turned 18 on January 16th. Back in November of 2009 I was caught driving a car without a license, registration, and insurance. I was also charged with stealing a registration sticker that says 2010 because the actual registration was 2008. Although the stolen sticker should have been a felony the officer made it a misdemeanor. I bought the car with money I saved from a man I met from craigslist. Because I didn't have a license and could not legally purchase it all he did was give me the car and the pink slip. I was given a court date on January 18th, 2010 but that was Martin Luther King Day and court was closed. I came to court the next day and the lady at the window told me I would have to wait until they mail me a correctional letter for a new court date. They also told me to check online to see if my court date would show up. I've been checking every couple days ever since and nothing has come in the mail or show up online. What do I do? Do I assume that they just dropped the case? This has been stressing me out for a long time because I need to go get my license and a car to run errands and such for my family. Keep in mind that I was 17 at the time and my parents did not know of me having the car (until I was caught by the county sheriff.)

I hope the court clerk gave you a date-stamped piece of paper to prove you were there. You have a misdemeanor charge against you, and this could really mess up your life unless you fight it. Keep checking online. Why is it that you don't have a driver's license or registration for your car? If you do receive something in the mail, or you find out from the internet that you have a court date, call me.
