Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

I got a ticket for a suspended license for AFDC

I got stopped by the LA count sherrif, and he informed me that my license was suspended for child support. I did not know because I have custody of my child.

He gave me a ticket 12500 (a)vc. Do I have any defense in court? Child support court gave me my license back and we are presently rtrying to get the matter straightend out. But I have to got to court on this ticket and I don't feel that I should be punished... what can I do?

Go to court and explain to the judge circumstances of your license being suspended and request a 90 day continuance, or longer is needed, to allow you to get the matter resolved in family court. If the judge will not let your explain then set the matter for trial. You should also consider the cost of going to traffic court compared to the fine. Then choose the cheapest way to deal with this unfortunate situation. Nolo Press publishes "How to Fight Your Traffic Ticket" this book will provide you with information on how to present your case in court.
