Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

we have been trying to correct information listed on our niece death certificate.

She was killed in another state than one she resided in. S.C was the death she resided in Cali. We did not provide the information to them that is listed and have had no success calling and speaking to them. Any suggestions

The death certificate for my niece that was killed in an automobile accident in South Carolina contained some incorrect biographical information. We have called to see how we can find out where this information was gathered and how we can correct any inconsistencies.

We have been rebuffed every time we call to get some information and I wondered if it would be appropriate to file a FOIS petition or some other legal means of getting some answers.
