would it be a conflict of interest for an attorney to represent an estate that he will benefit from?

Without knowing more, there generally is not conflict of interest if the administrator/executor/trustee is also a beneficiary of the estate planning documents.

However an non-relative attorney may have problems under Probate Code section 21350, etc.
