Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

I was given a grant deed (California) 34 years ago to pay off cash advances and personal loans I made to a friend. The friend died 3 years ago and now the executor of his trust wants to void the grant deed. The deed was signed notarized and recorded properly. What are my defenses?

Your defense is that it is recorded evidencing a debt. Is the executor proposing to make you whole in exchange for relinquishing the deed?
