If the retirement account has a payable on death (POD) named beneficiary, then just name him.

Are you currently retired? Have you considered creating a trust and name him as a co-trustee there? What type of retirement account is it?

As trust and Estate attorneys, we always recommend our married clients get mirror wills that pour over into a family trust. Both grantors are named as current co-trustees and at the first passing a standard A-B Trust is formed.
