Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

Marriage name change & trust account

My parents have set up a trust for my sister & I under our maiden names. If I don't hyphenate my name on my marriage certificate, will I have problems later claiming my trust? Can I hyphenate my name on the marriage certificate & still only have my husbands name on my drivers license & credit cards?

Re: Marriage name change & trust account

It shouldn't be a major problem. It might cause a delay, but it will not prevent you from ultimately getting your inheritance.

It might help, though, if your parents amended their trust to make it perfectly clear.
