Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

notification of death

Does California law require a published notification of someone's death? Is there a limitation on the time creditors have to file a claim against an estate/Trust?

Re: notification of death

It depends. Is there a will or a trust for the deceased? Are creditors easily accessable? There is a requirement to make notice to known creditors and make an effort at contacting other creditors. Sometimes this does require publication and notification to creditors of the person's passing away. It is really dependent on the facts. Unfortunately, without more of those, I can not give you a more descriptive answer.

If you would like to provide more, perhaps I can assist you better.
