Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

My sister in Orange Co. always has taken $7,000 off her taxes for homeowners exemption. I never have as I don't know how to get it? We both own our own houses? Is there a form to fill out to be able to deduct this annually on your taxes?

Thank you very much.

This is a topic that is better discussed with a tax preparer, such as an accountant or CPA, than with attorneys unless you are claiming that you are a part owner of a home that she has been taking the full deduction for, is this the case?

There is a space to take the deduction on your tax forms. Again, where it is depends on the form you use. Discuss this with your CPA.
