Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

My sub contractor picked up a small needle, sutck himself. It turned out to be a diabetic type needle. he went to Urgent Care, because he was afraid of STD's. The bill was 150. I told him that I would pay the bill. His wife though, wants him to file for Workmen's Comp. Would this be necessary, as he went right back to work, and said that he is ok.

If you were not his employer [he was really a sub-contractor] you have no WC liability or coverage for him. His own employer has to provide the WC benefits. If he really was an employee, at most he might be entitled to partly temporary disability for the wages lost on the date of injury. Why does the wife want him t file for WC? He is not going to get anything except perhaps a partial wage loss.
